BUDGET PLANNER

How does our budget planner work?

If you are looking for a bad credit mortgage or any type of mortgage for that matter, it's vital that you can demonstrate that the debt is affordable to you and will remain so into the future. This mortgage budget planner will help you decide how much you can afford to pay towards a mortgage each month.

It starts by asking about your income and then has more sections devoted to different types of outgoings. When you reach the summary page you'll be able to see exactly how much you have left over each month and where your money is being spent.

At this point, you may decide to either cut back on certain areas of spending or move on to set a mortgage budget. The budget planner will then look at some of the rates available on the market right now and tell you how much you may be able to borrow based on your budget. The budget planner will also check this figure against your income and tell you if your budget amount is higher than the mortgage amount you could realistically expect. It's important to remember that this is just an estimate and not a confirmed figure. To get a precise mortgage borrowing amount please book in to discuss your individual situation with an adviser.

It is important that you do not include any outgoings that will no longer be in place once you get your new mortgage. For example, if you are selling your current home to buy a new one, or remortgaging to a new lender, do not include the monthly payment for your current mortgage. Also, if you are buying your first home or moving, it is best practice to base the outgoings on the new property. For example, include your new council tax, water and utility payments rather than the payments for where you live now.
